In an additional scene at the end of the episode, Nardole (played by Matt Lucas) returned to his vault to guard the mysterious contents of the secure room. As he grumbled about his job,
Nardole was interrupted by a repeated loud knocking from inside the chamber. Fans have been quick to speculate what is in there and now it seems that the BBC show may have just dropped a
massive hint. With John Simm's Master set to make a dramatic return to the series, Whovians believe he is behind the door. One major clue to suggest that is the case is that the door
was covered in Gallifreyan etchings - the language of both The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and The Master. Secondly, Simm's incarnation of the Doctor's rival was associated with
knocking, a noise that ran throughout the third season of Nu-Who. The sound turned out to represent a Time Lord's heartbeat though, which throws a spanner in the above theory. The
knocking from the third season consisted of four knocks to match the beating of a Time Lord's pair of hearts. However, during tonight's episode, the mystery in the vault only
knocked three times. Was this a deliberate move to throw everyone off the Master's scent or is there actually a bigger threat lurking within? _DOCTOR WHO CONTINUES NEXT SATURDAY ON BBC
