Star Trek: Discovery season two will be coming to CBS All Access on Thursday, January 17.
The series will then start airing the next day (Friday, January 18) on Netflix in the UK.
Although Star Trek: Discovery is the latest in the franchise, it is set further back in the Star Trek canon timeline than some other movies and series.
Here’s when the Netflix series Star Trek: Discovery takes place on the Star Trek timeline.
Star Trek: Discovery’s first season takes place in 2256-7, so season two will be set in 2257-8.
This is 10 years before the events on the original Star Trek, which aired from 1966-9 and is set in the years 2265-9.
Star Trek: Discovery takes place in what Star Trek fans know as the “Prime timeline”, which includes all the TV series and films except 2009’s Star Trek, 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness and
2016’s Star Trek Beyond.
In the Prime timeline, Star Trek: Enterprise is the earliest series, with the 2001-5 series set in 2151-2161.
This means that some of the events of Star Trek Enterprise are taking place in the Star Trek universe at the same time as the events of Discovery.

STAR TREK LOWER DECKS RELEASE DATE, CAST, TRAILER, PLOT
To make things even more confusing, a number of series have episodes set further back in time, and some of the films have flashbacks into the past.
It has not yet been revealed when the Star Trek: Discovery spin-off series based on Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) or the upcoming Lower Decks animated series will be set.
If Star Trek: Discovery is set in 2258 (which has not been confirmed yet), then it will be set in the same year as the 2009 Star Trek reboot - though this is set in a separate universe known
as the “Kelvin timeline”.
