Strictly Come Dancing 2018 has attracted huge public attention after contestant Seann, 32, and dance partner Katya, 29, were caught kissing. Last night’s show was the first time the duo took

to the dance floor to perform a Charleston, since the incident.  And it the viewing figures for the BBC dance competition last night have been now been revealed. Strictly’s official press

Twitter account divulged a peak of 11.9 millions viewers tuned in to the show, with an average of 10.6 million.  The audience share was 51.2 percent and was the most watched channel on

Saturday the BBC said.  And the average number of viewers was up a whopping 1.4 million from last week’s episode.  Could it have had anything to do with Seann and Katya stepping out?  Their

quirky Charleston, which received cheers from the audience saw Seann tackle a number of tricky lifts.  The energetic dance gained them high and all round positive praise from the judges.

Dame Darcey Bussell, 49, said: “That was a full routine - there was great energy, vibrance, character.  “There was some really tricky lifts in there - that was very impressive - how you

saved the last one, incredible!” Head judge Shirley Ballas, 58, added: “That choreography and routine was outstanding. And you get an extra point just for saving [the lift]!” The duo scored

a combined 28 points form the judges, leaving them in a solid position for this week. However, Strictly’s only remaining original professional, Anton Du Beke, 52, who was partnered with

Susannah Constantine, 56, in this year’s series criticised their routine.  Appearing on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch earlier this morning, Anton explained how “there are two parts to every

dance”.  “The technical and performance. The performance was good, technique was poor. I thought it was a little messy.”  Host Tim Lovejoy then mentioned the high praise and scores they

received and Anton added: “I was like ‘hello? I don’t know what you were watching!’” Viewers at home also took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the routine and one said: “#Strictly

Seann and Katya’s Charleston was both awkward and flirty.”  Another added: “I thought that was a bit of a heavy Charleston to be honest, and Seann made a lot of mistakes… #Strictly.” “Love

Seann. Love the Charleston. LOVE Katyas choreography. Not here to judge their personal life #Strictly,” a third commented.  Both the comedian and professional dancer have publicly apologised

for their actions, on social media and again when they joined Zoe Ball, 47, on It Takes Two earlier in the week.  _STRICTLY COME DANCING 2018 RETURNS TONIGHT AT 7.40PM FOR THE RESULTS SHOW
