Mr Trump’s controversial pick for his inner security circle has been removed from his post just a few months after being given the unusual role. Mr Bannon was handed a seat at the NSC in a
move that raised eyebrows, given that he had minimal foreign policy experience and it is highly unusual for political advisors to be handed a seat on the committee. The initial appointment
drew criticism from some members of Congress and Washington’s foreign policy establishment, and being given a full seat at the table downgraded the roles of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs
of Staff and the director of national intelligence. After his appointment Republican Party consultant John Weaver tweeted: “The extreme right is represented footsteps from the Oval Office.
Be very vigilant America.” WHO IS STEVE BANNON? In a filing of Tuesday’s federal registry Mr Bannon was not listed as a regular attendee of NSC "principals committee" meetings, as
he previously was. Mr Bannon originally served on the committee as a check against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, a top White House official said. It is claimed the former
head of right-wing news site Breitbart only attended one meeting and felt he was no longer needed now H.R. McMaster has been appointed National Security Adviser. Mr Flyn was forced to
resign in February after it emerged he had had contact with Russia's ambassador to the United States, Sergei Kisylak, prior to Trump's taking office. Mr McMaster was reportedly
given the authority to organise the committee when he joined the white House. In the shake-up Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine
Corps General Joseph Dunford were added back to the committee. Mr Bannon was known for criticising the media, launching a tirade at press where, addressing the New York Times, said: “
"You’re the opposition party. Not the Democratic Party. The media is the opposition party.
