Midland Memorial Hospital has recieved six patients, three of whom are in critical condition, according to hospital officials.
The other three patients are in stable condition.
According to BNO News a state trooper has also been injured.
Odessa Police said in a statement that they were unsure of the number of gunman operating.

“At this time there are multiple gunshot victims.
“The suspect just hijacked a US mail carrier truck and was last seen in the area of 38th and Walnut.
“Everyone is encouraged to get off the road and use extreme caution!”
Midland and Odessa are located in western Texas and are about 20 miles apart.

The University of Texas Permian Basin is also reportedly on lockdown as a precaution.
The Midland police department posted on its Facebook page on Saturday afternoon with reports of an “active shooter” at the Home Depot in Odessa.
The post read: “For the safety of the public and law enforcement please stay away from the area and stay in your homes.
“We will update will more information as soon as possible.”

Midland and Odessa are located in western Texas, around 20 miles apart (Image: TWITTER)The department later posted an update: “We believe there are two shooters in two separate vehicles.
“One suspect is believed to be at the Cinergy in Midland and the other is believed to be driving on Loop 250 in Midland.”
A police statement later added: “The two vehicles in question are: gold/white small Toyota truck and a USPS Postal Van.
“Please stay away from these areas and stay indoors.”
US President Donald Trump has been informed, according to the White House.
Trump was keeping an eye on the approach of Hurricane Dorian.
He flew to his golf club in Virginia earlier from his Maryland retreat at Camp David.
The Cinergy in Midland is a multiplex cinema.
Presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke commented on the shooting: "Our hearts are with Midland, Odessa, and everyone in West Texas who has to endure this again.
“More information is forthcoming, but here's what we know: We need to end this epidemic."
