Matt Taylor told BBC Breakfast that Britain could see hail, snow and sleet mixed into showers on Friday. The BBC meteorologist added that temperature will drop throughout the day and get

close to freezing into the evening and overnight. Mr Taylor said: "It is going to be a day of sunshine and showers, some of the showers will be heavy and thundery as well. "Do not

be surprised to see a bit of hail and some sleet and snow mixed in. "The big picture shows you a strip of cloud, lots of heavy rain and a rumble of thunder on that. "That is set to

push its way eastwards this afternoon. READ MORE: BBC WEATHER: SNOW TO RETURN BY FRIDAY AS FREEZING TEMPERATURES PUSH IN "The other part of the story today is the temperatures

dropping, get ready for things to turn that little bit cooler. "There is heavy rain out in the west, through this morning it is going to push eastwards through Scotland and England. He

added: "As we go through this evening and overnight that first batch of rain will clear. "Temperatures are getting very close to freezing in some areas. "There is a chance

that we could see not only frost but some ice around tomorrow morning." "It's not out of the question that the northern half of the UK could see sleet or snow. "The date

of Easter changes each year and if it occurs in late March or early April, snow in the north of the UK isn't particularly unusual, especially over the hills. "It's often

debated whether a White Easter is more likely than a White Christmas."
