Two fishermen feared dead after boat capsizes

The alarm was raised at around 6pm after HM Coastguard received an emergency call and distress alert from a vessel in Loch Fyne. The boat's crew reported they had recovered a fisherman


from the water. After being brought aboard, man told his rescuers his 40ft fishing boat had capsized and his two crewmates were still in the water, off the Argyll Coast. RNLI Lifeboats from


Tighnabruich, Arran and Campbeltown were been scrambled to the sea loch, along with the HM Coastguard Prestwick helicopter and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Tarbert, Kames, Inverary and


Crinan. Police and paramedics were at the scene and several commercial vessels are also assisting in the search effort.  The fisherman who was rescued from the water has been transferred to


hospital.  A Police Scotland spokesman said: "An extensive search of the area is being carried out and one person has been rescued from the boat. "He has been taken to Mid Argyll


Hospital, Lochgilphead, where medical staff describe his condition as stable at present. "A joint investigation between police and the marine accident investigation branch is under way


to establish the cause of the incident." _ _
