Murder detectives are probing the man’s death after being called to a brawl in Ropery Street, Bow, at around 2.30am this morning. The stricken victim was found in nearby Eric Street
suffering from stab wounds. He was treated at the scene by paramedics from London's Air Ambulance service before being rushed to a hospital, where he died at 4.52am. And in Birmingham
a teenage boy is fighting for life in hospital after he was stabbed outside a mosque. The 14-year-old was attacked in the Small Heath area of the city just after 1am. A police cordon has
been set up near the religious building while forensics officers combed the scene for clues. Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the complex crime investigation team at Bournville Lane
police station, said: "An investigation is under way to identify those responsible. "This is a tragic event which has left a young boy is in hospital fighting for his life.”
Meanwhile, in Sheffield, police are investigating two linked brawls in the heart of the city centre, which left five people injured. Four people have been arrested - two in connection with
attempted murder - after the fights, Yorkshire Police said. The first fight was reported to police at about 4am and then, less than two hours later, officers received reports of another
brawl in Cambridge Street, in which three people were stabbed and a man was smashed over the head with a bottle. A police spokesman said: "Five people are confirmed as injured, with one
person in a serious but stable condition in hospital. "Four people have been arrested and are now in police custody. “Of these four, two have been arrested in connection with
attempted murder, and two in connection with public order offences."
