The genius questions the existence of God in the letter to philosopher Eric Gutkind in 1954.

In the note, written a year before his death, Einstein says the word God is “nothing more than the expression of human weaknesses”.

Einstein, born to Jewish parents, adds: “The Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions.”

The letter will be sold online through Los Angeles-based Auction Cause on Monday.
