Sarah, the Duchess of York reportedly wrote her novel in order to relieve herself from the stress imposed by her ex-husband, Prince Andrew's legal case. Sarah Ferguson said she threw
herself into writing to deal with the stress of her life. The Duchess noted that she gifted a copy of her latest book to Queen Elizabeth II before her death. The Duke of York's ex-wife,
Sarah, appeared at the Henley Literary Festival and spoke about her upcoming novel called A Most Intriguing Lady, The Times reported. Asked whether she used writing to escape the backlash
caused by Andrew's case, she said: "I escape in life into everything through my imagination and through my will to be joyous." She added that writing novels helps her to
define herself: Now at last people can say, 'Oh, she’s the author', rather than, 'She’s... err, I don’t know.'" The Dutchess has written many books including
children's literature and lifestyle and diet books. Her latest romance novel 'Her Heart for a Compass', published in 2021, tells a fictional story about the Duchess's
great-great-aunt, Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott. When asked about the media coverage of Andrew's case, she said: "I think the media are vitally important for many different
reasons. "Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they get it wrong. And I think we just keep going and never explain too much or say too much." Her new book is the second the
duchess has co-written for Mills & Boon with historical novelist Marguerite Kay. The Duchess of York also spoke with loving words about the late Queen Elizabeth II saying: "She’s my
mother and my wonderful best friend. "I’ve been the luckiest person alive because every minute is a memory and it will be in my heart and in my mind." READ MORE: PRINCE ANDREW
DEEMED A 'BULLY' WHO 'COULDN'T KEEP HIS TROUSERS CLOSED' "She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy: the most fantastic example of duty and service and
steadfastness, and a constant steadying presence as our head of state for more than 70 years. "She has given her whole life selflessly to the people of the UK and the Commonwealth.
"To me, she was the most incredible mother-in-law and friend. I will always be grateful to her for the generosity she showed me in remaining close to me even after my divorce. "I
will miss her more than words can express."
