Sarah Ferguson shares ‘exciting’ news - and it’s not about Princess Beatrice’s wedding

Sarah, also known by fans and friends as Fergie, signed a seven-book deal with an Australian publisher, Serenity Press. The Duchess of York shared the happy news with her followers, writing

on Twitter and Instagram: “So excited about my 3 new children’s books Arthur Fantastic, Genie Gems and The Enchanted Oak Tree...coming soon”. 

The former wife of Prince Andrew also shared the cover book of three of her upcoming books, all aimed at children.

Fergie’s Instagram followers greeted the happy news, showering the Duchess with clapping hands and heart emojis.

One social media user wrote: “Excellent news! Good luck with it. The illustrations look fab”.

Another said: “Very happy for you!!”

The first book by Fergie, who has authored more than 25 books in the past three decades, is expected to be published in mid-2020, Serenity Press said.

The deal consists of newly written titles including five picture books and two young chapter books.

Serenity Press publisher Karen Mc Dermott said upon unveiling the deal: “The acquisition is an exciting addition to the current Serenity Press list, which includes fairytale, fantasy and

folklore authors Kate Forsyth, Juliet Marillier, Sophie Masson and Jane Talbot.”

Speaking about Fergie’s stories as a mean of “empowering young minds”, Ms Mc Dermott added: “We are delighted to welcome the Duchess to our press.

“Her beautiful books are aligned with our core value of sharing nurturing stories that empower young minds.

Fergie became an appreciated author of children’s book in the early 90s, after writing six titles for her Budgie the Little Helicopter series.   

The series was so popular that the character later became the protagonists of an animated TV show.

Speaking about why she enjoys writing children’s stories, Fergie said in 2003: “I like to look at life through childhood’s eyes because I think it means you can be spontaneous and creative

and just have fun, you know?”

This happy news comes just a few days after Fergie’s eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, announced her wedding date and the location of her nuptials with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The loved-up couple will marry on May 29 at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Park. 

The privately-funded ceremony looks set to be a private matter after the BBC and ITV said they were not interested in televising the event.

A Buckingham Palace statement about the Princess of York’s upcoming nuptials read: “The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May

2020.

“Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

“The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by The Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.”
