Luxembourg gathered to mark the centenary of the accession of Grand Duchess Charlotte, grandmother of today’s Grand Duke, Henri. The royals celebrated the event on November 26 with a lunch

at the Chateau de Berg and an evening at the Philharmonie. DON'T MISS  Stephanie and Guillaume married in 2012, after having dated for more than two years. Their royal baby will become

the heir to the throne once Guillaume succeed to his father Henri, bumping down in the line of succession Prince Félix of Luxembourg, Prince of Nassau. Felix is Henri’s second son, and

already has a daughter and a son with his wife, Claire Margareta.  News of Stephanie’s pregnancy will mark a happy ending for 2019, during which year the Luxembourgian Grand Ducal Family

lost their former Grand Duke, Jean.  The beloved late Grand Duke reigned between 1964 and 2000, when he abdicated in favour of Henri. His death was marked by heartfelt tributes from other

European royal families and politicians, including Jean-Claude Juncker.  The former president of the European Commission described the death of Grand Duke Jean as a “great loss for the Grand

Duchy and for Europe.” He added: “Like all the people of Luxembourg, I had great esteem for this man of commitment, kindness and courage.” The late Grand Duke, who died in April after being

hospitalised for a pulmonary infection, served in World War 2.
