When Queen Elizabeth II passes away, Prince Charles  is the next in line to the throne. The Prince of Wales is expected to become the King, while it is still up in the air whether Camilla,

the Duchess of Cornwall, will become his Queen. However, while Charles is technically next in line to the throne, the Queen could decide to snub protocol and make her grandson the King,

according to 2016 documentary "Prince William: Royalty In My Family". The documentary's narrator claims that royal insiders have “suggested” Her Majesty could “overlook” her

son. The narrator adds: “Royal insiders have suggested that the Queen may choose to overlook Charles, and grant William the next succession to the throne. “It’s apparent that William

possesses great confidence, maturity and sensitivity. "At a similar age, his father Prince Charles seemed awkward and uncertain.” Despite the speculation, the official royal website

still lists Prince Charles as next in line to the throne. He is followed by William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Prince Harry, meanwhile, is very unlikely to ever

take the throne. However, the Duke of Sussex has spoken out before regarding his place in the line of succession, and the role of King does not appear to be one Meghan Markle’s husband is

eager to fill. Last year, the Prince said in a magazine interview: “Is there any one of the royal family who wants to be King or Queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at

the right time.” He also commented to the Mail on Sunday in 2017: “The reason I am now fifth is because of my nephew and niece and I could never wish them away.” He lovingly added: “They

are the most amazing things ever.”
