Brigitte Macron might be 64 but that didn’t stop her beaming like a teenager as her husband Emmanuel Macron held her hand in China yesterday. The couple - who have an age difference of 24
years - looked thrilled to be in China visiting the Forbidden City in Beijing. Former teacher Brigitte wrapped up warm as temperatures dropped to -1C during the afternoon in the city. The
First Lady of France threw on a cream jacket with matching scarf for the occasion. Brigitte paired her cream coat - reminiscent of her favourite Louis Vuitton style jacket, which she owns
in several different colours - with black leather gloves and black sunglasses. The French President met with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the second day of his visit to China,
yesterday. President Macron wore a black fitted coat with a black scarf - matching in opposition to his wife Brigitte’s simple, classic French style. The French leader hit headlines across
the world after gifting China’s leader with a French horse on day one of his visit to the country. President Macron gave Mr Xi Jinping an eight-year-old brown gelding of the elite French
Republican Guard. The 40-year-old chose Vesuvius from the presidential cavalry corps after finding out Mr Xi had been fascinated by the 104 horsemen who escorted him during his last official
trip to Paris in 2014. Gifting the horse to Mr Xi was an “unprecedented diplomatic gesture”, Mr Macron’s office said, adding this was the first time that a French president had offered one
of the Republican Guard’s horses. An Elysée official said: “It mattered a lot for the president, even if it was very complicated to import a horse for sanitary reasons. It’s a symbol of
French excellence.”
