John Torode, 52, is an Australian celebrity chef who moved to the UK in the 1990s.
He began his cooking career a while before moving to Britain, at the tender age of 16.
But his move to the UK saw him work at Le Pont de la Tour and Quaglino’s as a sous chef for the Conran Group under Terence Conran.
It was at Quaglino’s that John first met Gregg Wallace, 53 - his MasterChef co-host. Gregg’s company supplied the vegetables for the restaurant.

A year later he opened a second restaurant near Notting Hill Gate called Cafeteria.
In 2009, John opened a restaurant near New Spitalfields Market in London caked Luxe.
While he sold his shares and moved on from the two restaurants, but under his leadership, the turnover at the Luxe and Smiths of Smithfield reached £9.2million.
Other television work includes co-presenting on Junior Masterchef and presenting a show for the Good Food channel called New British Kitchen.
Gordon Ramsay, 51, opened his first restaurant in Chelsea, London in 1998 and went on to become the first Scotsman to win three Michelin stars.
