Not a lot of people know this but I’m very good at... ice skating. Well, good-ish. Me and my friend Joanne used to go to the Brighton ice rink on a Saturday afternoon and the muscle memory
seems to still kick in – eventually. My best friend is… my husband. He’s supportive and brave, and he always gently pushes me to do things that I’d wimp out of if he wasn’t there. My
nickname is… Stan. It’s come from an occasion when someone couldn’t pronounce Sian. The bravest thing I’ve ever done is… write a very personal and raw book, Rise, about a time in my life
that hurt, in order to try to help someone else through theirs. My favourite TV show is... Broadchurch. I loved series three. My perfect evening is... kids in bed, glass of wine, something
special on the box, under the blanket on the sofa and no work in the morning. I’d like to say sorry to... those I should have called when they were in need, but who I didn’t hear properly.
My first kiss was... with Simon Lloyd on a patch of wasteland. It was sloppy, I was rubbish and he was gorgeous. My biggest regret is... not spending enough time with my mum. We had some
brilliant, giggly days but not enough of them. She died very suddenly of cancer a few years ago. The one thing I’d change about myself is...to stop worrying about what other people think of
me. I’d like to be braver and bolder. The best thing my parents taught me was...kindness. It was such an important lesson. The last time I cried was… quite recently, hearing a song on the
radio which suddenly brought back childhood memories of me and Mum, cooking in a sunny kitchen and listening to Jimmy Young on Radio 2. The first record I ever bought was… Golden Brown by
The Stranglers. It’s not good for my image but I like...weeding. There’s something very therapeutic about gardening. My greatest weaknesses are... red wine and dark chocolate. If I could
pass any law I would... give everyone who needed it, free and immediate access to mental health support. I drive... a Skoda. It was recommended by my brilliantly practical dad, who used to
build classic cars and who told me they rarely let you down. The shop I can’t walk past is… the department store John Lewis. There’s always something I think I need and the staff are lovely,
so I’m drawn in. The most expensive thing I’ve ever splashed out on is… our home. Although the bank still owns most of it. My perfect Sunday is... a run on a spring day with a friend,
followed by a good lunch, walking by the sea with the family and a fish and chip supper to round it off. My favourite place in Britain is... St David’s on the Pembrokeshire coast – or
Applecross in the Highlands – or Studland Bay in Dorset. One of those three. My last holiday was… during February half-term. It involved driving from Kent to France for a day trip to
Disneyland Paris – up at 4am and back at midnight. And we didn’t even see Mickey Mouse, but the children still loved it. I’m currently reading... academic research for my next book about
building resilience skills in children. The best day of my life was… when our son Seth, who was born blue and flat, was resuscitated and I came out alive from emergency surgery to hold him.
If I had half an hour left on Earth… I’d hug my family close and tell them how much they are loved. _SIAN IS A MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER FOR FITTER STRONGER RETREATS. THE NEXT ONE IS AT CHEWTON
