Foodies and “intelligent” eaters apparently prefer cheese and onion while those prone to stress are more likely to reach for salt and vinegar. Those with a love of chilli-flavoured crisps

are adventurous, lively and “up for anything”, according to new research. A new study claims personality traits can be revealed by a person’s favourite crisp flavour. It suggests a

preference for smokey bacon over prawn cocktail can reveal secrets about someone’s character, work and lifestyle habits. Ready salted lovers are boring, prone to being miserable and don’t

like the thought of change. Experts say it is because they prefer to stick with what they know rather than be adventurous with flavours. Plain crisps will deliver no surprises, perfect for

people who tend to go for the “safe options” in life. Vinegar is thought to trigger the release of hormones including adrenaline which is why those prone to stress may prefer this tangy

flavour. A sway towards salt and vinegar also suggests workaholic traits and a tenancy to struggle more with stress. Those with more adventurous taste buds may go for sweet chilli flavoured

crisps - a sure sign of a “zest for life”. Experts suggest capsaicinoids in chilli cause the body to release endorphins, feel-good chemicals which can bring a sense of well-being. The study

by media company pressat.co.uk looked lifestyles and preferred crisp flavoured of 3,000 adults. It revealed more than 75 per cent of smokey bacon lovers were male who tend to describe

themselves as confident, brave “real men”. This is thought to hark back tot he hunter-gatherer days when males would cook meat on an open fire. A pressat.co.uk spokesman said: “More and more

of us are frequently consuming crisps, not only because its an age old snack but because it can supplement a quick and convenient meal. “With so many of us eating crisps on a regular basis

trends and similarities do quickly start to appear.”
