Priscilla Presley was married to The King for six years and has previously admitted she doesn’t share everything from her private life with Elvis. Nevertheless, at Elvis Presley’s 85th
birthday celebrations in January the then 74-year-old told a story she hadn’t made public before. Speaking at a Q&A, Priscilla said how Elvis gave her an ultimatum telegram that Colonel
Tom Parker had sent the singer. The incident took place at the end of Elvis’ military service in Germany around 1960, when The King was dating Priscilla before they married seven years
later. Priscilla, who was just 14-years-old when she met Elvis, recounted: “I have a telegram that he gave me, I’ve never shared this before really. “A telegram, when he left [Germany],
[detailed] what he was up against with Colonel Parker if he was dating anyone. “[It] warned Elvis that if he has a girlfriend that fans will not be there for him, basically – I’m
paraphrasing this.” READ MORE: ELVIS 'WAS REJECTED' DAD VERNON PROUDLY SHOWS HOW HE TRIUMPHED Meanwhile, in an unearthed interview from the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ death in
1977, Priscilla recounted receiving the tragic news of his passing. Speaking with The Today Show, the now 75-year-old said: “It was shocking, it was like everyone else not believing it. “The
phone call I got from Joe Esposito [Elvis’ manager], it was like ‘Are you kidding me?’ Because we would kid around all the time y’know. “And [Elvis] was in the hospital lots of times and he
always made it through.” Priscilla continued: “The streets were so lined up with people, lined up all the way to the cemetery. “I just remember looking and seeing people grieving and being
in my own world still shocked.” This Sunday marks the 43rd anniversary of Elvis’ death. The King only lived 42 years, so he has now been dead longer than he was alive.
