film-maker Edwards revealed the unlikely inspiration behind this particular creation. It seems he was ordering a coffee and was asked by the barista for his name, so it could be doodled on


the cup. “I must have said, ‘it’s Gareth’, and they wrote ‘Scarif’,” he recalled, to laughter from the crowd. Speaking in a Reddit AMA, Edwards also let slip the truth behind the absence of


an opening crawl in Rogue One. “The opening crawl decision was made before we started filming,” he said - which contradicts what Kathleen Kennedy said late last year. She had claimed: “The


crawl and some of those elements live so specifically within the 'saga' films that we are having a lot of discussion about what will define the [stand-alone] Star Wars Stories


separate and apart from the saga films. “So we're right in the middle of talking about that.”
