Hacker who stole nude photos of jennifer lawrence is jailed

Ryan Collins, 36, tricked his victims by sending emails appearing be from Google or Apple. He was charged with accessing the photos between 2012 and 2014, in a case known as “The Fappening”.


  However, a statement by prosecutors said investigators had not uncovered any evidence linking Collins to the actual leaks or that Collins shared or uploaded the information he obtained.


Collins accessed at least 50 iCloud accounts and 72 Gmail accounts - including those of actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Scarlett Johansson, and Kirsten Dunst. The court heard he may


have also stolen the usernames and passwords of more than 600 people. Court filings said he had used fraudulent email addresses designed to look like security accounts from service

guilty in May. Commenting on the case earlier this year, the FBI’s David Bowdich said Collins illegal activities had “violated his victims’ privacy and left many to contend with lasting


emotional distress, embarrassment and feelings of insecurity”. He also warned all internet users to “strengthen passwords and to be skeptical when replying to emails asking for personal

guilty to the same charge. It is not thought Majerczyk and Collins worked together at any point.
