The comedian fears that he has started to display symptoms, after his father Colin was diagnosed with Pick's disease, an extreme form of the degenerative brain condition. Father-of-two
David said his dad has it "really badly", just months after his beloved mother Sarah died "horribly" of pneumonia. "Almost definitely I’ve got it," David
revealed. "Scientists are making out we’re all getting it eventually because we’re all going to live longer, and the longer you live the more likely you are to get it." The
television star continued: "I’ve started already to forget names much more than I used to and although I think that is considered to sort-of be OK for someone of my age, I don’t. Every
time it happens, I think, ‘OK, early onset.'" Pick's disease accounts for fewer than 15 per cent of all cases, but typically strikes people aged between 40 and 65. David
added: "The other day a terrible thing happened… I can’t even remember what it was I forgot now, but it was something that really was something I should have remembered, or know. I
actually got an anxiety attack thinking about it afterwards," during an interview with the Mirror Online. The star has been open in the past about being prone to bouts of depression,
previously claiming he was in therapy for a decade. However he thanks his partner Morwenna Banks and children Dolly, 14, and Ezra, 10, for helping him through the dark times. "The only
thing that has changed me as a person is having children. It has made me a better person – less selfish and more empathetic," he said. David is currently promoting his latest book, his
second for children, called The Person Controller, inspired by his computer game-loving son.
