A 'first-class' Whitby hotel is set to be transformed into holiday homes - if plans are given the go-ahead. Lodestone Projects Ltd has put forward a proposal to North Yorkshire

Council to convert the Langley Hotel in into 12 one-bedroom holiday lets, along with internal and external refurbishments. Situated at 16 Royal Crescent in Whitby, the corner property is

located in the West Cliff area of the town and falls within Whitby's conservation zone. In 2023, the hotel, which was labelled as 'first-class' on Tripadvisor and boasted a

five-star rating, was listed for sale at £850,000. The roof of the large six-storey terraced building is in a state of disrepair and needs replacing, according to the plans, which also

suggest substituting the existing rooflights. Internally, the proposed repair works aim to refresh the current fixtures and finishes to modernise the property. A property management plan for

the holiday lets has been submitted by the applicant, stating that 24-hour phone support would be available, alongside a local property management team to handle maintenance. "The

existing layout is subject to minor adaptations to convert the existing hotel accommodation, communal areas and staff accommodation into a total of twelve holiday suites which will consist

of a bedroom and ensuite with a seating area and tea point," the plans detail. The applicant stated: "The works will help to preserve the property on this important and impressive

street and the internal refurbishment will enhance the property and ensure that it appeals to holidaymakers to provide longevity to secure the building's future." _GET ALL THE
