competition.

chance to 'own' one of the horses and win $500 through the competition.

Club members Deb Matthews and Tracy Boon are excited for the opportunity to become owners even if it is just for the day.

"Who wouldn't want to be the owner of a racehorse," Ms Matthews said.

"Especially a winning racehorse," added Ms Boon.

The pair have been club member for roughly four years.

Ms Matthews said the event was about much more than just having a punt on the horses.

"People forget that meetings like this aren't just about racing and having a bet it's about getting together as a community," she said.

"You catch up with people that you very rarely see, most of the people in this district are in agriculture of some description, Trace and I are farmers, it's great to catch up with those

people."

said pacer racing provides all the thrill of thoroughbreds at an affordable price.

"Pacing is really for the common people and it's affordable for people to own horses and train them and they are a delight to watch."

"Thoroughbred racing is a little bit out of our league, kings and queens we are not."

She said the event will be fun for the whole family.

Ms Boon said there is no where in Tasmania like Carrick when it comes to watching pacers.

"You're right on the track, there is no where else in Tasmania where you can be right on the track," she said.

"You feel like you're sort of in the race."

The event takes place this Saturday February 15 with gates opening at 2:30pm and the first race is at 3:30pm.

There will be something for every member of the family with a live band playing in the evening and bouncy castles and face painting for the kids.
