England's women get their Commonwealth Games campaign underway when they take on Ghana at 4pm today. The match will be live on BBC Sport iPlayer; and depending on scheduling may also be
on their TV channels as well. England have won a medal at every Games since hockey was introduced in 1998; picking up three silver medals and three bronze; most recently taking third place
in Australia four years ago. Ghana are playing in their second Games, having qualified for the first time in 2018. They have already played one fixture; losing 5-0 to India. In the other
game in our Pool; Canada earned a 4-0 win against Wales. England come into the event on the back of their showing in the FIH Hockey Women's World Cup, when they narrowly lost to
Argentina at the quarter final stage. Ralph has named 17 of the 18 players who lined up in the World Cup, with Flora Peel recovering from injury to appear at her first senior international
tournament. Darcy Bourne stepped aside and has helped England reach the bronze medal match at the European Junior Championships. The game takes place at University of Birmingham, where all
of the hockey matches at Birmingham 2022 are taking place.
