Nottingham hockey centre unveiled as hosts of the premier division finals

England Hockey has announced Nottingham Hockey Centre as the hosts of the prestigious Premier Division Finals weekend which take place from 3 – 4 May. This season’s finals weekend is the

culmination of the 21 matches in the Premier Division where sides will compete in the semi-finals and final to be crowned Premier Division Champions with England’s places in the EuroHockey

League also on the line. Nottingham Hockey Centre was selected after a robust tender process and will be hosting the finals for the first time in over 20 years. The venue is home to Beeston

HC, Nottingham Players HC and the University of Nottingham HC and has experience of hosting not only elite domestic competition but also national-level events. They have worked tirelessly,

investing in their infrastructure and facilities, to become the biggest hockey venue in the Country. Last year saw Hampstead and Westminster face off to Surbiton in the women’s final with

Surbiton crowned Champions while in the men’s final Surbiton took on Old Georgians who won the national title for the third time in a row. After phase one of the 2024/25 season, Old

Georgians sit on top of the men’s league having not dropped any points across the 11 matches. The women’s title is much tighter, but it was Hampstead and Westminster that are in pole

position having won nine out of the 11 matches. On the announcement of this year’s hosts, Rich Beer, England Hockey’s Sport and Development Director said “The Finals weekend offers the best

of our domestic hockey league, and we are looking forward to working closely with the team at Nottingham Hockey Centre to ensure this is a fantastic showcase of the sport. “We always see

thrilling action at the Finals weekend, and I think this season will be no different. I think we can continue to build on the success of previous years and offer a great weekend for fans of

club hockey.” David Griffiths, Director at Nottingham Hockey Centre, shared his excitement about the event: "We are absolutely thrilled to host the Premier Division Finals here at

Nottingham Hockey Centre. It’s an incredible opportunity for us to showcase the world-class facilities and passionate hockey community we have built. We look forward to welcoming the very

best teams in the country for what promises to be a weekend full of high-stakes action and unforgettable moments. After over two decades, it's a real privilege to bring such a

prestigious event back to Nottingham." Phase two of the Premier Division gets started again on 1 March where teams will play five matches before the play offs and the finals weekend.
