Over the weekend, Lilleshall National Sports Centre has played host to the DiSE Cup, where players in the DiSE programme have been competing against each other and the England U16 teams.  

The Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme is a government-funded scheme to support young hockey players in full time education. The DiSE programme is delivered in partnership

between England Hockey and Loughborough College. Players attend national camps that provide a rich blend of on-pitch technical and tactical sessions, presentations, 1-2-1s and elements of

portfolio work.   Invitations to apply for next year’s DiSE programme will be sent in August to eligible Performance Centre players going into Year 12 in September 2022.   Dieter Hill,

Junior Talent Development Manager commented: “The DiSE Cup this weekend has been a brilliant opportunity to provide competition experience for players engaged in the DiSE programme. By

bringing in the England U16 teams, fresh from their 8 Nations experiences, there has been the opportunity for physical, tactical and technical stretch for all parties.   The Girls

competition was won by England U16 Girls and the Boys competition was won by England White Boys.   England U16 Girls Head Coach Don Vinson said: “We were pleased to deliver three very

professional performances over the weekend. The games were won through our consistent and tenacious circle defensive work. We were pleased to score a number of goals due to the technical

development of our offensive line. This was a very positive camp to end this year’s cycle.”  England White Boys Coach Will Heywood commented: “This was a fantastic collective effort from the
