News | 2024 pulse survey for equality, diversity and inclusion

Thank you to those of you who completed last year’s Pulse Survey for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. England Hockey received over 6300 responses from junior players through to 90 year

olds. Almost 64% of responses came from active players. The responses have been really helpful for the shaping and adjusting the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Framework actions to make

them more focused and relevant to the sport. England Hockey wants to continue to hear your views on inclusion, and what has changed, for better or worse, this season, in the game and clubs.

This year’s survey will take no more than five minutes to complete.  The questions have been aligned to the More Inclusive Sport Survey in 2021 and last year’s survey so we can compare

results. England Hockey wants to understand where things can be better for more people in the game. England Hockey will also review experiences by the aggregated demographic data completed

at the end of the survey. This is so that we can understand if some people feel less included than others. There will be the option to enter a prize draw at the end as a thank you for

completing the survey. There are three replica GB Shirts available (either a junior or senior size) and the three lucky winners will be picked at random after the close of the survey. This

is optional and won’t be connected to our data analysis. At the end of the survey, we also will be asking some questions about you, it is anonymous, and we are only analysing aggregated

results - not individual answers. England Hockey wants our sport to be reflective of society in England. This means that this part of the survey has some standardised questions for people to

complete voluntarily so that we can compare our participants against local and national populations.  Collecting good demographic data helps us build up an accurate picture of who is taking

part, but also when combined with qualitative data on people’s experiences, the NGB can start to understand where the game could do more to improve opportunities for certain parts of
