City. 'Right To Pee' campaigners returned their awards to Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar on International Women's Day, citing the unchanged filthy conditions of public toilets in

the city. According to a leading English daily, the activists were felicitated on International Women's Day in 2015 to recognise their effort and contribution towards campaigning for

clean and safe toilets for women in the city. Every year, on March 8, BMC felicitates women for their noteworthy contribution towards various causes. However the campaigners said that they

had still not seen any change on the ground. "The BMC budget has no provisions for women's toilets in the city and focuses only on household and community toilets. Our demand too

falls under the Swachh Bharat campaign. We do not want to carry the mayoral recognition when there has been no change on the ground," Supriya Sonar, convener of the campaign told the

daily. At the felicitation ceremony held at mayor's bungalow at Shivaji Park, the RTP had submitted a charter of demands regarding cleaner and safe public toilets for women in the city.

But one year later, seeing no change in the situation, they decided to return their award.
