the state. Asserting that rivals will not be able to erase the historic role played by National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said his party is the

people of the state. "NC is not the creation of any 'Agency' and its dictation, its command and its strength is the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Omar said addressing

party workers' conventions at Neel, Kastigarh, Razgarh and Ukral in Banihal and Ramban Assembly constituencies this evening. "Our headquarters is the people of the state and we

take only their dictation and command," he said maintaining that power has never been the goal of NC. He also said NC is not like other parties which change their minds and views with

the changing winds to grab power. Rivals will not be able to erase the historic role NC has played, even during challenging times, to uphold people's cause and seek political and

economic stability for Jammu and Kashmir, he said. The NC Working President underlined that NC had created necessary thaw in Indo-Pak relations and made the "table" the only means

to settle issues, and said friendly relations between the two neighbours has been and will remain NC's core political viewpoint. Stressing on NC's efforts to achieve political and

economic stability in the state, Omar said against plans to bring in economic measures to solve the Kashmir issue, he had highlighted to the Centre the importance of resolving the issue

politically. He had also highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir cannot be equated with other states of India, and that its relation with the country was special and "we have to strengthen

this bond by strengthening the special status of Jammu and Kashmir granted by the Constitution of India". Maintaining that his party was not greedy for power, the NC leader said his

party would continue its struggle "whether in power or outside" in pursuing its agenda of building 'Naya Kashmir' based on justice and equality. Taking on opposition PDP

for allotting tickets to corruption-charged persons for the Assembly elections, he asked the people to seek information about these persons under RTI and reveal truth about them. "If

such persons, God forbid, come to power, what would be the condition of the state?" he asked. In a boost to partymen, Omar referred to sacrifices made by thousands of NC workers during

militancy and said the party will again surpass the difficulties and emerge victorious. He expressed confidence that the people across the state would read between the lines and scuttle the

conspiracy being hatched against them and the state. Omar also highlighted important decisions taken by his government during the last over five years on peace and development front and said

these achievements cannot be played down as these are documented and historic memorabilia. "You cannot belittle the stupendous achievements of the government made to give common masses

the power to scan every function of the government and be legally empowered to receive public services in a time bound manner," he said. He also mentioned the establishment of hundreds

of new Administrative Units across the state and said people will remember "my government for a very long time when they will be harvesting the fruits of these decisions".
