The director is disheartened that his critically-acclaimed film was not sent for Oscar consideration Director Shoojit Sircar is disappointed that his critically acclaimed film _Vicky Donor
_that also did well at the box-office was not considered worthy enough to be sent for jury’s consideration for Oscars. “It was this year’s most original story and it’s disappointing that it
was not even sent for jury’s consideration,” he laments. He blames the producers Eros for this. Says Shoojit, “When I got to know about the nomination (of _Barfi_!), I thought the jury may
not have liked my film. Still, I asked the co-producer to check and I was shocked to learn that the film was not even sent for consideration by Eros (the producers).” When contacted, the
spokesperson from Eros refused to comment on it. Shoojit adds that he is happy for Anurag Basu and the entire team of _Barfi_! for its selection as India’s official Oscar entry. “I
congratulate the entire team. The jury chooses the best, deserving film as an official entry. But I think every child (film) deserves a fair trial. For somebody like me and the kind of films
I make what makes me happiest is the critical acclaim much more than the commercial gains.” Starring Ayushmann Khurana and Yaami Gautam, _Vicky Donor _was a light-hearted take on the issue
of sperm donation. [email protected]
