The battle between Airtel and Jio has reached an all-new high with the Reliance-owned company introducing a new set of tariff plans for June. For starters the company has Rs 100 off on the
Rs 399 plan with a double data (3GB/day) benefit for the month of June. Airtel had introduced 1GB/day additional data on Rs 149 and Rs 399 packages for limited users. Jio on the other hand
have lifted off Airtel, but given the discount to all its users. “Jio also offers a Rs 100 discount on all recharges of Rs 300 and above and 20% on recharges below the Rs 300 price point, if
the user recharges through the MyJio app and pays using PhonePe wallet..” the company said in a press release. THESE ARE THE NEW RATES a. 1.5GB/day data pack users - Rs 149, 349, 399, 449
will now get 3GB/day b. 2GB/day data pack users - Rs 198, 398, 448, 498 will now get 3.5GB/day c. 3GB/day data pack users - Rs 299 will now get 4.5GB/day d. 4GB/day data pack users - Rs 509
will now get 5.5GB/day e. 5GB/day data pack users - Rs 799 will now get 6.5GB/day Interestingly, Airtel introduced its scheme in response to Jio's plan which offers 1.5 GB 4G per day
for Rs 149 with a validity of 28 days. By offering 0.5 GB extra, Airtel is looking to stay alive in the intense data war which has been unleashed ever since Reliance Jio entered the market.
Jio with its aggressive price points managed to bring the prices down, forcing others to adjust their rates. Both companies were also in a legal battle over selling Apple watches. Reliance
Jio had filed complaint against Bharti Airtel with the DoT, alleging that the telecom major is offering eSim service on Apple Watch Series 3 in violation of licence norms and demanded
immediate closure of the service. Both, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are selling Apple Watch Series 3 from May 11 through their sales channels. Apple Watch and iPhone of a subscriber share
the same number and subscribers can use both iPhone and Apple Watch with eSIM to make or receive calls independent of the call status of the other devices. The eSIM is paired with the SIM
in iPhone wirelessly through a dedicated network node. The node used for eSIM profile allocation contains network and user information such as operator identifier, SIM details, PIN, remote
file management for managing SIM files remotely etc. Jio alleged that Airtel has not set-up the eSIM provisioning node within India and the node being used to provide Apple Watch Series 3
service is currently located out of India in "gross violation to the license terms". The Mukesh Ambani led firm also alleged that Sunil Bharti Mittal led telecom firm should have
carried out lawful interception and monitoring, but it is not aware of any demonstration carried out by Airtel prior to service launch "so that important national security interests are
not compromised". Jio also alleged that Airtel has deliberately chosen to install a critical network element outside India.
