firm chartier-corbasson architectes have just created an extension to the bouctot-vagniez town hall in amiens. the addition, housing the ‘regional chamber of commerce and industry’ sits
amongst a green plinth that connects the original building, the new construct and the adjacent gardens. the two principle masses are communicate through a deep atrium that brings light and
ventilation into the spaces. the southern facade meeting the road contains a double screen of metal mesh allowing for the movement of air and protects the interior from direct sunlight.
screen printing technology was used to create sun shading textures that are designed to block out intense light from certain perspectives. the living wall engulfs the southern elevation with
various panoramic glazing breaking through at different levels. southern facade facing an existing building image © r.meffre and y.marchand walkway along the southern elevation image ©
