SERVICES TO SHARE THIS PAGE. Leonor Varela has taken a supporting role in Studio 8’s ice age epic _The Solutrean_ from director Albert Hughes. Specific plot details are being kept under
wraps, but those familiar with the project say it’s a visually striking epic-adventure survival story set 20,000 years ago during the last Ice Age. The word “Solutrean”(pronounced
So-lu-tre-an) refers to the Upper Paleolithic period of early advanced humans in Europe. Varela is playing the shaman; described as wise, powerful and compelling, she performs religious
rituals of protection, healing and thanksgiving. Varela most recently was seen in Paramount’s _Captive_, opposite Kate Mara, David Oyelowo and Michael Kenneth Williams. Other credits include
_Ride_ opposite Helen Hunt and Luke Wilson, a seven-episode arc on TNT’s _Dallas, _and _Odd Thomas_ with Anton Yelchin and Willem Dafoe. She also appeared in _Blade II_ and _The Tailor of
Panama_. She’s repped by Link Entertainment. CELYN JONES has joined the cast of Wim Wenders’ _Submergence_, adapted from the novel by JM Ledgard. Also starring Alicia Vikander and James
McAvoy, the film follows the interconnected stories of James (McAvoy), an Englishman held captive by jihadist fighters, and Danny (Vikander), a marine researcher studying the ocean floor
near Greenland, as their thoughts are drawn back to the previous Christmas and the chance encounter that led to their romance. Jones will play Danny’s assistant, Thumbs. Jones’ credits
include the Dylan Thomas biopic _Set Fire to the Stars_, _Castles in the Sky_ and the Starz series_ Da Vinci’s Demons_. He’s repped by APA, Thruline Entertainment, and Hamilton Hodell. WATCH
