MOURNERS WERE LEFT IN SHOCK AFTER A MAN WHO WAS THOUGHT TO BE DEAD STARTED MOVING IN HIS COFFIN. THE BIZARRE INCIDENT WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERA AND SPARKED WILD SCENES AT THE INDIVIDUAL'S
HOME 16:57, 20 May 2025 In a shocking incident in Peru, mourners were left stunned when a man's coffin began to shake and the "corpse" inside started twitching and making
noises, seemingly coming back to life. The eerie event was captured on video, showing the moment the deceased man, identified as 'Iván', appeared to move inside his coffin at his
home, just days before his scheduled funeral. The footage, recorded in the town of Olmos in the Lambayeque region, shows the shocked reactions of Iván's family and friends. The video
has since gone viral on social media platforms including TikTok and X. According to these posts, the mourners were paying their respects to Iván when the unexpected happened - he seemed to
regain consciousness. There are various theories circulating about how this startling event could have occurred. One witness hailed it as a divine miracle, likening it to the resurrection of
Lazarus in the New Testament Gospel of St John. In the video, she can be heard exclaiming: "Glory to God! This man is alive. All those watching us, your prayers for this man, Iván,
may God show His glory. Just as He resurrected Lazarus, God can do so with this man. Oh, holy! Pray for this man!" A more earthly explanation suggests that the man might have been in a
cataleptic state, which could account for his apparent "resurrection". Catalepsy is a symptom of certain neurological disorders or conditions, such as Parkinson's disease and
epilepsy. Its symptoms include paralysis, slowing down of bodily functions, such as breathing, and a stiffness that could be mistaken for rigor mortis. Several viewers of the video suggested
catalepsy as an explanation, with one proposing that the man had been fortunate to emerge from the state before he was buried, and another adding: "Those who don't believe in God
will say catalepsy, and those of us who do believe, we know it's resurrection." Catalepsy has been the cause of at least one premature burial. In one notorious case, Argentine
socialite Rufina Cambaceres fell into a cataleptic state on her birthday in May 1902, and was declared dead. But, after her burial, the caretaker of La Recoleta Cemetery heard noises coming
from her vault. The coffin appeared to have been moved. When it was opened, scratch marks were found on the inside of the lid and the girl's face. It became clear that Rufina had been
buried alive. The reason for her bout of catalepsy has never been fully clarified but it is presumed that she died of suffocation after waking up. Even with modern medical methods, mistakes
are still sometimes made and people can be declared dead before apparently "coming back to life". In April, paramedics dashed to the Son Valenti funeral parlour in Palma, Majorca
after a "dead" woman started twitching in her coffin. This eerie event mirrors a spine-chilling episode from February last year when morgue staff in Guatemala were petrified as a
woman appeared to come back to life, stirring inside a body bag. Echoing a similar occurrence from the previous year, 16-year-old Texan lad Sammy Berko had a cardiac arrest at a rock
climbing gym and was declared dead. Astonishingly, he came back to life two hours later after relentless CPR, prompting one of his doctors to brand him a "literal miracle". Article
continues below Sammy's mum Jennifer recounted the harrowing moment her son lost consciousness after climbing a wall, and how she was informed of his death. After medics ceased their
resuscitation attempts, Jennifer revealed: "I started talking to him, just telling him how much I love him and sorry that we didn't know how to save him. Suddenly, as I started
praying, my husband said, 'Oh my gosh, he's moving'." In yet another jaw-dropping tale from June last year, 76-year-old Bella Montoya Castro was pronounced dead at a
hospital in southwest Quito, Ecuador. But, to everyone's shock, she awoke amidst her own funeral service hours later. Her son Gilber Barberan reported that mourners laying flowers on
the casket heard noises emanating from within, only to discover it was Bella herself making the sounds.
