AN 88-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WAS NEARLY BURIED ALIVE AFTER SHE 'WOKE UP' WHILE FUNERAL WORKERS WERE PREPARING HER LIFELESS BODY FOR HER OWN FUNERAL, FOLLOWING A CORONER'S BLUNDER
01:37, 03 Jun 2025 An 88 year old woman had a miraculous escape from being buried alive after she "woke up" while funeral workers were prepping her apparently lifeless body. The
chilling episode unfolded in Pilsen, Czechia, when the elderly lady seemed unresponsive one morning as her partner attempted to wake her up. In a state of alarm, he called emergency
services, but sadly, the coroner proclaimed her dead later, Blesk, a Czech news outlet, reported. Following the pensioners supposed passing, as funeral staff were arranging her body for the
burial, they were shocked to find she wasn't dead but astoundingly very much alive. Various accounts indicate that this granny exhibited telltale signs of life; some say she cracked her
eyes open upon being laid within the coffin, while others speculate it was her breath that tipped off the undertakers. The funeral workers rushed to get help, and after confirming she was
indeed alive, the woman was speedily carted off to the hospital where she's now recuperating. Article continues below Her horrific scare of nearly ending up six feet under prematurely
is not over yet, as a police investigation is underway to understand how such a grave error could occur with speculation rife that the coroner neglected to give proper aid, causing this
near-miss debacle. The company that the coroner works for has offered its regrets, promising stark consequences for the mistake, though what exactly will be done remains under wraps.
Ambulance spokesperson Martin Štěpán said: "Our operations centre received a call in the early morning hours, during which the operator proceeded in accordance with the valid
recommendations of the professional society and the methodology for situations related to the death of a patient. "Following this procedure, the entire incident was handed over to the
coroner." Wrapping up the account, Mr Štěpán said: "The woman's basic life functions were ensured on site and she was subsequently transported to a medical facility."
Police spokeswoman Michaela Raindlová chimed in, revealing their investigation into the supposed demise of an elderly lady, only to find her very much alive. Article continues below
