GREG MONKS, 38, VANISHED DURING A STAG DO IN THE TOURIST HOTSPOT OF ALBUFEIRA IN THE EARLY HOURS OF MAY 28 SPARKING A MAJOR SEARCH, BUT NOW REMAINS HAVE BEEN FOUND 00:07, 05 Jun 2025 A
British man's body has been discovered after he went missing on a stag do in Portugal, as police suggest he fell into a ravine following an ill-fated attempt to jump a fence. Greg
Monks, 38, vanished while celebrating in Albufeira during the early hours of May 28, triggering an extensive manhunt that saw his girlfriend and family fly over to join the search. CCTV last
caught him in Cerro de Aguia, a fair trek from the main pub strip. The Portuguese police delivered the heartbreaking news that a 38 year old man's remains were found during the hunt
for Greg. The Glasgow lad is feared to have gotten lost and then taken a fatal fall while trying to find his way back to his hotel. The police say they have pieced together his potential
route after they found his body in Cerro de Aguia. Due to the baking heat, he had started to decompose after a week undetected. A police source said: "There is nothing at this stage to
indicate this man's death was linked in any way to a crime. But we need to wait for the autopsy results to conclude that is the case." Article continues below He further explained:
"Our belief is he lost all notion of where he was after drinking heavily and finding himself in an unfamiliar place, and that he jumped over a wall and fell to his death. The body was
already in a state of decomposition when it was found." Forensic teams have been spotted at the ravine where Greg's remains were discovered, collecting evidence. Officials had
previously stated that the body was located "on a vacant and very uneven terrain", and it was subsequently taken for post-mortem examination. In the wake of the tragic discovery of
the body, Greg's sister Jilian shared a heart-wrenching tribute to her brother, describing him as "an amazing boy". Posting in the Missing Person Greg Monks - Albufeira,
Portugal Facebook group, she wrote: "Didn't think it would end like this.. We are absolutely devastated! "Greg was an amazing boy who everyone thought so highly of, Was
friends with everyone and always made us laugh! We will miss him everyday! "I just want to thank absolutely everyone for everything they done from sharing their posts to out looking,
phoning everywhere to get CCTV. She added: "The support we have received from everyone has been out of this world If love coulda saved you, you would live forever! "Miss you
forever brother." Article continues below _FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE DAILY STAR, SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER BY CLICKING_ _HERE __._
