WELSH STAR TOOK A HAMMERING FROM THE O2 CROWD EVEN BEFORE HE APPEARED FOR THE BETMGM PREMIER LEAGUE SHOWDOWN 19:42, 29 May 2025Updated 19:43, 29 May 2025 Gerwyn Price suffered a London

hounding and was booed even before he got into the arena for his BetMGM Premier League showdown with Luke Littler. The Welsh star was made to endure a cacophony of boos from the 14,000

sell-out as he headed into darts battle at London’s O2 with The Nuke for their last-four clash. But it began even before then as, when a pre-recorded TV interview with Price was beamed onto

the screens, the crowd broke into hefty rounds off booing. It was backed up again when he walked to the stage. Price was once the pantomime villain of the sport and had been heckled around

the country by rowdy crowds in the earlier stages of his career. However, in recent times, The Iceman’s popularity has surged and he has become a darling of the crowds with chanting of his

name inside some arenas. But Price had to go back to the days of the old sour sounds as he walked out for his semi-final with Littler in the English Capital. With the majority of the crowd

backing the teenage sensation and World Champion and shirts across the venue bearing the teenager’s name, it was a step into the lion’s den for the former rugby star. Price, the first man

into the arena on the night for the first semi-final, was bombarded by boos by sections of the support. Littler, on the other hand, was roared into the place as he followed Price up the

walk-on ahead of the duo’s clash. Price had spoken recently about his new-found popularity and admitted it might be down to the simple fact that others aren’t well liked in various

locations. He said: “Maybe there’s one or two characters in there now that the fans probably don’t favour. Article continues below "So they look to go somewhere else and if they want to

cheer me on and help me get over the winning line. "I’m happy with that. I think there’s a couple of characters in the Premier League that some venues don’t really like as well.”
