MAJOR CHAMP GIVING OFF SIGNS HE'S RETURNING TO FORM AT KEY TIME FOR USA 11:30, 31 May 2025 Showstopper Jordan Spieth reckons he’s in a nice place as he sets about saving his Ryder Cup
spot. And the American star displayed his entertainment skills with an outrageous socks and shoes off and tree-smashing par during his run into contention at The Memorial. Ex-Open champ
Spieth’s ability to produce thrilling drama was evident again at Muirfield Village with his remarkable par save on the 11th hole of his second round. The Texan tugged a tee-shot into the
drink, took a drop after going barefoot to test the depth of the water and then rattled a tree with his third before going up and down for a par five. Spieth was typically relaxed about the
chaos and said: “It was good. I took the drop because I couldn’t get a stance. "The creek’s too deep, so I couldn’t actually stand in the water and also I could reach the green, which
was a big reason why I took a drop. Article continues below "If I took a drop, I could still reach the green. If I were to chip out, I was only going to get 20, 30 yards out of it. “I
took my shoes off just to see if I could get in and see if there was some footing, if the creek was shallow or something, because I could see the ball and I could have definitely got a club
on it. Once I got in there, I just didn’t have a stance. “I got really lucky on the lie I had after the third. It was sitting really nicely and, if it had gone another yard, I couldn’t have
hit it high because that would have been under the tree. "The lie was good and the greens were a little softer. "So all in all, it was a really good save just to not have to make a
long putt or anything. Walking over there, that was as good as I could ask for.” Spieth is just three behind leaders Nick Taylor and Ben Griffin heading into day three and looks to be
finding form as he aims to clinch a place in Keegan Bradley’s USA Ryder Cup team for September at Bethpage. He hopes for a big weekend and said: “In a nice place. It’s nice because this
course, you can’t fake it. "It tells you where you are. I’ve been feeling like I’ve been pretty close and I just want to stay the course. Article continues below "It’s nice to get
rewarded the last couple holes there with some really nice shots and look at the weekend with some heavy wind and know that I have a chance.”
