IT'S CLAIMED GERRARD WILL SIT DOWN WITH CLUB CHIEFS OVER THE NEXT 48 HOURS TO THRASH OUT A RETURN RANGERS MANAGER 22:42, 20 May 2025Updated 06:29, 21 May 2025 Steven Gerrard is set to
hold talks with Rangers over a sensational return to Ibrox over the next 48 hours. The Scottish Premiership title winning boss is the heavy favourite to become Philippe Clement's
permanent successor as a takeover by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises edges ever closer. Gerrard, who left Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq earlier this year, is still based in Bahrain with his
family and _RECORD SPORT_ revealed that the prospect of relocating from the Middle East could prove to be a stumbling block. However, Gers can't afford to wait around as they look to
rubber stamp the deal that will see a new regime sweep into the club and get on with the business of trying to build a squad that can mount a serious title challenge to Celtic next season.
New sporting director Kevin Thelwell isn't due to start his role until next month and CEO Patrick Stewart is keen to get things moving on the manager front as quickly as possible. The
Daily Mail reports that Gerrard is set to sit down and potentially thrash out a deal to return to Glasgow over the next couple of days, with Rangers keen to have their new man in place by
the end of the week. It's thought that Gerrard is very much open to the idea of sitting in the Rangers hotseat once more, and he won;t face any tax implications by returning to the UK.
Managers and players earning mega money in Saudi Arabia are liable to pay a massive amount of tax on their earnings at the highest UK rate if they return within a certain timeframe. For
Gerrard, that ceased to be an issue in April and it's thought to be a similar case for former Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson, who is set to leave Ajax this summer and has been
suggested for a player/coach role. Former Ibrox favourite Steven Davis has also been touted as a potential member of Gerrard's backroom staff. Follow _RECORD SPORT_ on Twitter, Facebook
