Rose West 'can barely walk and has no friends' behind bars as killer feasts on strange breakfastRose West has spent almost 30 years behind bars after being convicted of murdering at least 12
women and girls with her evil husband Fred at their home.NewsPaige Ingram and Peter Davidson Assistant Live News Editor07:10, 29 May 2025Rose West(Image: SWNS.com) Fresh insights into the
prison life of infamous serial killer Rose West have emerged.
Now aged 71, West, alongside her husband Fred, committed a series of heinous crimes, raping, torturing and murdering at least 12 women and girls in their Gloucester house of terror from 1967
to 1987. The couple's gruesome acts remained hidden until 1992 when their daughter Louise, then only 13, accused Fred of rape and Rose of cruelty.
Although the case fell apart when their eldest daughter Anne Marie, who had suffered abuse since she was eight, declined to give evidence, the children's accounts alerted the police.
A significant investigation ensued after it was discovered that the children were frequently threatened with being buried "under the patio like their sister Heather", who had disappeared
five years prior. Police soon unearthed the full extent of the atrocities; among the victims were Rose's stepdaughter Charmaine, a mere eight years old, and Fred's former wife Catherine
'Reno' Costello, aged 27.
Rose West was sentenced to a whole life order in 1995, ensuring she will spend the remainder of her days in prison after authorities found multiple dismembered bodies interred in the garden,
under a patio, and within a cellar used for sexual torture. Fred West never faced trial for his role in the atrocities, as he ended his own life while awaiting trial in HMP Birmingham at
the age of 53, reports the Mirror.
Fred and Rose West(Image: SWNS.com)Article continues below After giving up her appeals in 2001, she seems to have accepted that she'll likely end her days behind bars, already having served
almost three decades. Regularly transferred due to threats from other inmates, she has spent the last six years at New Hall, where it is said she leads a rather comfortable existence.
However, it's been reported that she can be quite irritable with staff if things don't go her way.
An insider disclosed to The Sun: "She's in a disabled room now because she can barely walk. She never really leaves the wing she's held on and is escorted all the time by prison officers if
she goes anywhere. Sometimes she sits in the communal areas on her own.
"No one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name. When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them
gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected. She likes to watch nature documentaries on the TV in her cell, especially ones about birds."

In an attempt to sever ties with her nefarious past, it's learned that West shelled out £36 to rename herself Jennifer Jones. It's understood she carried out the name change via deed poll
last December, telling acquaintances it signifies a new chapter.
Nevertheless, her true identity remains common knowledge at HMP New Hall, the women's prison situated near Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Some inmates shun her overtures of friendship, leaving her to eat tomato soup in solitude for breakfast in her cell, where she spends much of her time knitting and chatting to the television
due to her limited mobility.
Fred and Rose West(Image: SWNS) West is currently housed in New Hall's Rivendell House; a special unit where 30 inmates each have an en-suite cell and are assigned a laptop to request their
groceries with. The communal spaces reportedly possess a "more inviting" atmosphere compared to other sections of the facility, as mentioned in inspection reports.
This month saw Netflix unveil a chilling new documentary entitled Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, which peers into the terrifying acts carried out by the Wests from their
seemingly ordinary Gloucester residence during the 1980s and 1990s.
Article continues below Offering a deep dive into the history, the three-part documentary, with over 50 hours of police interrogation footage never seen or heard before from 107 interviews,
aims to shed fresh light on the horrific murders of at least a dozen women at the hands of Fred and Rose West.
