his family have confirmed. The beloved actor, famed for his appearances on Coronation Street and Doctor Who, succumbed to heart failure, as disclosed by those close to him in a heartfelt

statement. A representative for the actor expressed their sorrow: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael McStay, an actor of the highest standing and talented

writer, whose career across stage, screen and radio spanned over six decades." Michael's illustrious acting journey culminated with his portrayal of Alan Hoyle on the iconic Corrie

set, a role he assumed in 2011 when he took over from John Woodvine, reports the Mirror. Beyond his stint on the ITV soap, Michael graced other hit shows including No Hiding Place, Doctor

Who, Blunt, and Thatcher: The Final Days, not to mention building a formidable filmography with titles like Peter Yates' Robbery. He wrote numerous plays for Radio 4 and the popular

Jean Fergusson were brilliant in the basement episodes." Another shared their condolences with two sad emoji faces. They wrote: "Michael McStay took over as Alan Hoyle from John

"The Seeds of Doom" (1975) opposite Tom Baker." Michael was born in Essex in February 1933, according to IMDb. His mini biography written by a contributor on the popular TV

and film website says he studied a degree in Drama, French and Philosophy at Bristol University. According to the Daily Mail, Michael then then spent two years of National Service as an

officer posted in Cyprus, during the Cyprus Emergency, before returning to England to embark on his acting career. He also spent a lot of time in France. In 1967, he married actress Jennifer
