By BRYONY JEWELL FOR MAILONLINE Published: 15:22 EDT, 22 February 2021 | Updated: 15:22 EDT, 22 February 2021 Lauren Huntriss had to have an operation to remove skin cancer and reshape her
nose after it was 'left with a big hole' when she was just 27. The Married at First Sight Australia star, 33, explained she first noticed a spot which then started to look like a
'wort' and 'wouldn't stop bleeding' in 2015. Talking about her health scare, Lauren urged fans to always get things checked out if they notice changes to their skin
and said she's 'lucky to have caught it when I did'. Discussing the spot, Lauren: 'I kept picking and picking, but it wouldn't go away. A few months later, I noticed
it had grown a bit and started looking more like a wort.' Lauren continued that she started to get properly concerned when the spot wouldn't stop bleeding and spoke to her
dermatologist while at an appointment for her acne. She explained in the post, which was first shared in April 2019, that: 'On observation the dermatologist noticed this spot on my
nose. He said it looked suspicious so took a biopsy.' The results of the test came back saying the star had skin cancer, with Lauren saying she was told it had to be 'removed
immediately before it became malignant.' She said: 'Results came back and guess what?.. it was a skin cancer! "But I'm only 27!" I said at the time' Although
only looking like a small spot on the top of her nose, the blonde beauty said that it had started to spread under the skin so time was really of the essence. She then told her followers:
'I opted for #MOHS surgery (an advanced surgical technique whereby the doctor removes the cancer bit by bit and viewed under a microscope while the patient waits) over a skin graft as
skin grafts tend to be very noticeable. 'Once the cancer was removed I had the amazing Dr Ilias Kotronakis perform #flaprepair surgery to reconstruct my nose after it was left with a
nice big hole!' Reflecting on the ordeal, Lauren said: 'I remember crying so much but then thinking, "Far out, I'm lucky I caught it when I did". I might not have
a nose at all or, even worse, might not be here today to tell this story.' After bravely recounting her experience, Lauren encouraged fans to always get checked out if they notice
changes to their skin saying. Lauren also previously chatted about her cancer on Instagram Stories saying: 'I had a BBC, a basal cell carcinoma, skin cancer, maybe four years ago, cut
out of my nose. It left a massive bloody hole, about the size of my eyeball. 'Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I did have to have MOHS (a microscopically controlled
surgery used to treat common types of skin cancer) to get it removed.' Lauren appeared on Married At First Sight Australia in 2019, and was matched with Queensland videographer,
Matthew Bennett, now 32. However their 'marriage' soon fell apart, with Matthew telling Lauren he wasn't physically attracted to her during the show's second dinner
party, and the couple became the first to leave the series. Matthew, who is best known for being a virgin at the start of the season, recently alleged in a YouTube video that he'd
developed a urinary tract infection early on in the production process. He claimed he 'had a bladder infection on the honeymoon' because there wasn't an opportunity for him to
use the toilet on his wedding day. He said he was only able to go to the toilet 'twice during the whole day' due to the complexity of shooting his wedding to Lauren. Matt also
also spoke about his famously fraught relationship with Lauren, without ever actually using her name. He said he 'made a formal complaint' about his 'partner' over her
behaviour when the cameras weren't rolling. Married At First Sight Australia
