Tumble dryers from 8 brands urgently recalled as shoppers told to stop using

Urgent safety alerts have been issued for a list of tumble dryers over concerns they could pose a fire hazard. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has called on customers to

cease using these appliances with immediate effect. Officials expressed alarm stating: "The product presents a risk of fire as it is possible for an internal short circuit to occur

during normal use, causing the tumble dryer to ignite." The office warned that without prompt action, there could well be devastating fires in homes. The OPSS confirmed that these

dryers do not conform to the stipulated Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Owners were told by the OPSS to "stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer

to arrange for a modification". They added further advice saying: " The product should not be used until the modification has taken place. If the plug is accessible, switch off and
