THE DEADLINE IS APPROACHING FOR THE NEW BIENS IMMOBILIERS DECLARATIONS – YOU MAY NEED TO TAKE ACTION IF YOUR PROPERTY IS NOT VISIBLE IN YOUR PERSONAL SPACE READER QUESTION: MY FLAT IN NICE

IS NOT LISTED ON THE PROPERTY SITE. WHY IS THIS AND WHAT SHOULD I DO? Usually, if you have a personal space on the impots.gouv.fr website and you own property in France, you should find that

the property is listed on the site under the biens immobiliers section. However, there are a couple of reasons why a property you own may not be shown. Firstly, the reason may be that you

only bought it recently. The declaration this year relates to occupancy on January 1, 2023, so you are not concerned if you bought your flat after this date. If you bought the property after

this date it is the responsibility of the previous owner to complete the declaration for it as they owned it on January 1. But if, for example, you bought your property at the end of 2022

and the property was not listed when you checked, it is worth checking again to see if it has been added now. Property sale information can take a few months to be finalised and changes must

be listed on the land registry before the property is officially in your name including on the tax site. WHAT TO DO IF THE PROPERTY STILL HAS NOT BEEN LISTED? If you were officially the

owner of the flat before January 1, 2023, and it still has not been listed, the tax authorities ask that you contact them. If you have owned your property for a long time, it may be that a

mistake on the tax authorities’ part or a computer error is the reason. You can alert them to this in one of three ways: * You can call them on 0809 401 401 but only if you are in France.

Press 0, then 5, then 1 to speak to someone about the _biens immobilier__s_ declaration. * You can also report this by speaking to your local tax office. You can find its details by clicking

on Contact et RDV on the tax website. If you are a non-resident, however, do not call the non-residents’ tax service about this, but rather the tax office for the place where the property

is situated. If in doubt, do a web search for the town with the term service des_ impôts de particuliers_. * In your secure online messaging service in your personal space on the tax

website, you can open up a new message and click _J’ai une question sur ma déclaration d’occupation et de loyer de mes biens immobiliers_, so as to let them know the property is not listed.

Having alerted them, the _biens immobiliers_ section should be updated, allowing you to complete the form for your property. RELATED ARTICLES KEY POINTS TO HELP YOU COMPLETE FRANCE’S NEW
