return to French screens after winning three Golden Globes in Beverly Hills with best picture, musical or comedy, best actor in a musical or comedy for Jean Dujardin and best original score

and its triple A win marked a glory night for France. The judges also voted Woody Allen's _Midnight in Paris_ best screenplay and Martin Scorsese best director for _Hugo_, which was set
in a Paris railway station. It was a third Golden Globe for Scorsese and a second for Allen. Jean Dujardin's Golden Globe is the first for a French actor since Gérard Depardieu won in
1991 for _Green Card_. When the verdict for the best film, musical or comedy was announced the award was received by producer Thomas Langmann and he was joined on stage by the rest of the
cast, including star dog Uggie - who nearly stole the show with a reprise of his film tricks. Elsewhere, Steven Spielberg's _The Adventures of TinTin_ was named best animated film.
Other top honours went to George Clooney for best actor, in _The Descendants_, which also won best film. Meryl Street was best actress for _The Iron Lady_.
