UNCOOKED TURKEYS FROM MULTIPLE BRANDS AND ALL MAJOR SUPERMARKETS AFFECTED Concerns over the presence of listeria has led to a mass recall of essentially all uncooked turkey products in
France. Official product recall site RappelConso currently lists 28 products that have been recalled. It includes turkeys from most major meat and poultry brands in France including Le
Gaulois, Maître Coq, Sélection du Volailler, Colruyt, and a number of halal-specific brands. The products were sold in most major supermarkets across France, including Auchan, Carrefour,
Intermarché, E.Leclerc, Casino, and others. All of the turkeys were sold _prêtes à cuire_, meaning they are uncooked, usually whole, turkeys that are bought from the refrigerated meat
section, or sometimes from an in-store butcher’s counter. Most of the turkeys affected have already passed their ‘best-before’ dates, however people may have frozen them to consume at a
later date. Pre-cooked products, such as sliced meats, are not affected by the recall. Customers who have purchased the products can bring them back to the store for a refund, although the
exact dates to do this vary depending on the product and supermarket in question. You can see a list of all the affected products HERE. LISTERIA FEARS The products are being recalled due to
fears over the presence of listeria, a bacteria that can cause listeriosis food poisoning. The effects of listeria food poisoning can appear as late as eight weeks after consuming an
infected product, and can include headaches, fever, and body aches. Anyone who has consumed one of the products listed and is experiencing such symptoms should immediately contact their GP
or another doctor. Listeriosis is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, elderly people and the immuno-compromised, and is the second-biggest cause of food poisoning related deaths in
France. RELATED ARTICLES NEARLY 6,000 FOOD PRODUCTS RECALLED IN FRANCE OVER TWO YEARS WHY ARE THERE MORE FOOD RECALLS NOW IN FRANCE, THAT YOU OFTEN POST? LARGE RECALL OF SUPERMARKET WHITE
