staff through a city shop during a terrifying and bizarre early morning robbery. The workers were tied-up with cable by the crook, who struck as they arrived to open up the corner shop in

Fenham, Newcastle. Disguised as a workman in a hi-vis jacket, the raider vanished into the darkness after stealing cash and cigarettes from the Nisa shop, on Two Ball Lonnen. And now, more

than 10 years on, the crook remains at large, despite having his every move caught on camera. Today, as police say they would review any new information that came in about the case, we take

a look back at the frightening robbery. On January 9, 2014, the Nisa Shop became was one of a number businesses to be targeted during a spate of violent robberies that was sweeping across

Tyneside at the time. The raider struck at around 5.30am. And as he was hunted detectives from Northumbria Police's Major Crime Team shared CCTV footage of his crime with the Chronicle.

The CCTV footage showed a man in the fluorescent yellow jacket forcibly walking the two staff members across the shop by pushing them from behind. At the time detectives asked Chronicle

raid sent shockwaves of fear through the local business community. And it was rumoured that the robber apologised to his victims as he carried out his crime. One local businessman said: “All

we know is that he was waiting behind the wheelie bin and then he came out from behind to attack them. Apparently he kept apologising when he was doing it. I have heard quite a few people

get done, including Subway, Greggs and the tanning shop. It’s quite worrying.” Article continues below While another shop worker said: "It’s getting worse around here and I’m trying to

not let it worry me. It used to be a lovely area. We were targeted a few years ago and we know what it’s like. We wouldn’t have been open that early this morning, but we’re open until 8pm on

an evening and it can be worrying at times. It’s terrible. People must be desperate for cash to do what they have done.” Anyone with information about the robbery should call Northumbria

Police on 101 quoting reference number 001739T/14.
