RYAN HODGSON, ALREADY A DISQUALIFIED DRIVER, ALSO WENT ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD, FLOUTED RED LIGHTS AND CLOCKED SPEEDS OF MORE THAN 83MPH IN 30MPH ZONES 16:00, 17 May 2025 A banned

driver went the wrong way down an A1 slip road during a high-speed police chase in the middle of the day. Ryan Hodgson also went on the wrong side of the road, flouted red lights and clocked

speeds of more than 83mph in a 30mph as he took officers on a pursuit in the West Denton area of Newcastle. A court heard that, as the 21-year-old drove on to a slip road for the A1 in the

wrong direction, police were forced to make contact with his Seat Ibiza in order to make him stop. Hodgson, of Rokeby Avenue, Lemington, is now facing time behind bars after he pleaded

guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified. Newcastle Magistrates' Court heard that police started following Hodgson's vehicle as they

initially believed it might be stolen. Holly Clegg, prosecuting, continued: "The police activated their blue lights, at which point the defendant made-off. There was a pursuit. He makes

a number of dangerous manoeuvres. It's during the day at a busy time. "The defendant contravenes red lights. The officer's speed goes up to 83mph in a 30mph zone and the

defendant was travelling faster than that. He goes on the wrong side of the road. Article continues below KEEP UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND TOP STORIES FROM THE NORTH
