found his his body in a steep and inaccessible area near the village of Masca on July 15, 2024. Preston Coroner’s Court heard a number of friends and others who were on holiday with Jay had
not given evidence to the inquest. Extensive efforts, including summonses, were issued for several witnesses who were in contact with Jay before he disappeared. But a number failed to
respond and would not be giving evidence, the court heard today, Wednesday, May 21. They included Jay's friends who were with him at the music festival - Bradley Geoghegan, Brandon
Hodgson and Lucy Law. The two men who were staying at an Airbnb Jay went back to before he disappeared had also not been traced. The hearing was scheduled to last one day but was adjourned
at the request of Jay's family. His mum Debbie Duncan broke down in tears at the inquest, telling the court she still had questions that needed answers. Ms Duncan said: "How can we
ever get any understanding? "There’s things we want to question. "We want these people to be sat in front of us, because our son went on holiday and didn’t come back, so there’s
questions we need to ask." Coroner Dr James Adeley adjourned proceedings for a short period. The inquest earlier heard traces of drugs, including cocaine, ketamine and ecstasy, were
found in Jay's body. Article continues below Pathologists concluded his death from head injuries was consistent with a fall. The hearing continues.
