one man taken to hospital. (Image: Nadine Growcock) A two-vehicle crash in a Birmingham street saw a car overturn and a man arrested on a suspicion of drink-driving. It happened in


Timberley Lane, at the junction of Thistledown Road in Shard End, just after 5pm yesterday, Monday, December 23, with a white Vauxhall Corsa ending up on its roof.


Police, fire and ambulance crews rushed to the scene. A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: “We got the call at 5.22pm to a roll over crash. We had two crews from Sheldon and Ward End


in attendance and one person was released.”


West Midlands Ambulance Service said it received ‘several 999 calls’ and sent two crews to the scene. A driver was treated and taken to Heartlands Hospital.

A spokeswoman for the service said: “We received several 999 calls to reports of a car on its roof following a two-vehicle road traffic collision at the junction of Timberley Lane and


Thistledown Road, Shard End, Birmingham at 5.18pm on Monday (December 23).


Article continues below “An ambulance and a paramedic officer attended. The driver of the overturned car, a man, was helped out of the vehicle by fire colleagues before being assessed by


ambulance staff. He was found with no serious injuries and was treated on scene before being conveyed to Heartlands Hospital for further checks.”


A spokesman for West Midlands Police added: “We were called to a collision in Timberley Lane, Birmingham, at just before 5.20pm on Monday (December 23).


“No-one was seriously injured but a man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He was later de-arrested while enquiries continue.”
